Alex Parsons (United Kingdom) Alex was born just outside of London in the UK in 1982. His love for music started at the early age of four when he started learning the violin, taking up the piano and saxophone soon after. His dedication to performance earned him visits abroad, playing a range of countries from those in Europe, to as far out as Kuwait and South Africa.
It was during Alex’s years at University where he studied music that he fully got into dance music. Riding alongside his classical study, he spent his time listening to techno, electronica and the harder sounds of house, which was from where he drew his initial DJing inspiration. After only 6 months of mixing, Alex was playing main room sets at the Fridge with his residency for the legendary XLR8 parties. Now, an experienced and extremely versatile DJ, he holds residencies at London’s ever-growing Kurruption and Party Proactive, mixing up anything from Underground House, to Electro and Breakbeat.
Alongside Alex’s DJing has always been his production. Drawing inspiration from his masters degree in composition, his earliest releases in 2002 were in the form of TV soundtracks. Since then, as well as several more soundtracks for National Television and previous releases on Proactive, Whiplash and Acute Digital, he has completed a remix for Kitcash, his own EP on David Duriez’s Block imprint, and a collaboration with Tommy Four Seven, ‘Chocolate Makes Your Clothes Shrink’, due to be released on Brique Rouge in February 2006.
There is no doubt that 2006 is set to be a pretty big year for Alex. Easily one of the most versatile, innovative and exciting DJ and Producers around, he is without doubt the brightest young star of the house and breaks scenes.
